About Maggie

I first came to Berlin in 1999 as a teenager on a high school exchange year, immediately fell in love with the city, and knew right away that I could live here. I kept coming back every summer until I finally just moved in 2004.
What drew me then is what still drives me now. Berlin is a city that has looked honestly at its own history, the darkest parts included, and chosen openness, tolerance and accountability over convenient forgetting. I find that rare and genuinely moving, and it shapes every tour I give.
I hold a Master’s in Economics from Humboldt University and an MBA, and I guide in both English and German.
My job is to bring that history into the present. Not just as fact, but as something you actually feel.
How I guide
My tours are shaped around the people joining me. We can explore Berlin’s Prussian past and its historic architecture, Jewish life across the centuries, the Third Reich and the Cold War, or the neighborhoods and cultural life of Berlin today. Potsdam’s palaces and gardens offer another way into the region’s history. I also guide visits to Sachsenhausen, where we take the time the memorial deserves. We can follow your questions from major landmarks into everyday streets and local stories, whether we have a few hours together or several days.
Experience and accreditation
I’m a member of the Berlin Guides Association and hold certificates to guide at Sachsenhausen Memorial. My academic background is in economics and business, and I guide in English and German.
